Transparency Serbia Continues to Provide Technical Assistance for the Development, Implementation and Monitoring of Local Anti-Corruption Plans

May 26, 2020

Transparency Serbia provides customized technical assistance to eight local governments – Novi Pazar, Šabac, Sombor, Kragujevac, Vranje, Vrnjačka Banja, Raška and the city municipality of Stari Grad in various stages of development, implementation and monitoring of the local anti-corruption plans (LAP). Within the first group of local governments that joined USAID Government Accountability Initiative (GAI) in November 2018, the project supported four local governments (Raška, Sjenica, Vrnjačka Banja and Vranje) to develop and/or revise their LAPs and establish Independent Monitoring Bodies (IMBs), and support the Independent Monitoring Body in Šabac to become operational.

These activities highlighted the strong need for further technical assistance for the implementation of the LAPs and capacity building of the established Independent Monitoring Bodies (IMBs) to perform their responsibilities. USAID GAI project and Transparency Serbia will continue to support the cities and municipalities they have worked with so far in 2020 and will be joined by local governments that joined the program in November 2019. The project will provide technical assistance to the city municipality of Stari Grad for the development of LAP, the cities of Novi Pazar, Šabac and Raška for the implementation of LAPs, and the cities of Kragujevac, Sombor, Vranje, Vrnjačka Banja, Raška, Novi Pazar and Šabac to further strengthen the capacities of previously formed Independent Monitoring Bodies.
