Given the role and importance of public prosecution service in the fight against corruption, the Government Accountability Initiative (GAI) has launched a training program on ethics, integrity and internal whistleblowing, with the aim to further strengthen the internal organization and capacity of public prosecution staff. The training program was developed in cooperation with the Republic Prosecutor’s Office, Judicial Academy and Pištaljka portal.

The first training was held on December 18 (for staff employed in the State Prosecutors’ Council), and the second on December 19, 2020 (for employees of the Republic Prosecutor’s Office). Two additional workshops were held on February 24 (for employees of the Appellate Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad) and on March 26, 2021 (for employees of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad). More than 100 participants attended trainings.

The training was led by Ms. Gordana Samardžić, Secretary of the Republic Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Vladimir Radomirović, Editor-in-Chief of Pištaljka portal and lawyers from Pištaljka`s Legal Team.

During the training participants discussed the legislative framework, ethical dilemmas, personal and institutional integrity, conflicts of interest, provisions governing the receipt of gifts, etc. In part dedicated to internal whistleblowing, the participants were shown video material with the most significant cases from the practice of Pištaljka`s Whistleblower Helpline.

GAI will organize additional trainings for employees in other appellate areas.
