Roundtables in the Municipalities of Sjenica and Raska on the Draft Revised Local Anticorruption Plan
May 22, 2019
The Municipalities of Sjenica and Raška, USAID Government Accountability Initiative and Transparency Serbia organized roundtables in the municipalities of Sjenica and Raška, where the Draft Revised Local Anticorruption Plans for these two municipalities were presented. At the roundtables, participants had the opportunity to give their opinion, suggestions and comments on the Drafts of these documents.
The roundtables were preceded by a public debate during which interested citizens, associations, professional associations, trade unions, media, political parties and others could submit proposals for amendments to the Draft LAP. The roundtable was an opportunity for the public to once again discuss LAP drafts, but also to provide interested parties with additional suggestions and comments.
The local anti-corruption plan is a document adopted by each local self-government unit in Serbia, recognizing the risks of corruption in the work of local public institutions and anticipating activities to reduce these risks. LAP works preventively on corruption, through increasing transparency in the work of local institutions, strengthening control over the work of public services, introducing criteria for decision making, and through more active public involvement in decision making. A high-quality LAP and its efficient use should contribute to the savings and rational use of public resources and the better realization of the interests and needs of the local community.
