On January 31, 2019, USAID’s Government Accountability Initiative (GAI), implemented by Checchi & Company Consulting Inc., convened a second workshop of representatives of Serbia’s anti-corruption court units and Public Prosecutors’ Offices (PPOs) to analyze the legal framework, data quality, and user requirements for the design and planned implementation of a first-ever Electronic Register of Corruption Cases (ERCC) in the country.

The State Audit Institution (SAI) of Serbia has adopted a Strategic Plan 2019-2023 that will focus its attention on current and emerging challenges facing the Government of Serbia and guide its annual selection of audit topics in the future.
USAID Presents Citizens’ Perceptions of Anticorruption Efforts in Serbia

On December 11, 2018, USAID’s Government Accountability Initiative (GAI), presented the results of the 2018 nationwide survey on the perception of Serbian citizens on the efforts of institutions at all levels of government to combat corruption. The survey was performed by CeSID d.o.o. in November 2018, via face-to -face interviews, with a sample size of 1,200 interviewees in urban and rural areas throughout Serbia.
USAID Supports Serbian Local Governments Implement Whistleblower Protection Frameworks to Increase Government Accountability

In the period from November 29 until December 7, 2018, USAID’s Government Accountability Initiative (GAI), implemented by Checchi & Company Consulting Inc. held regional workshops on implementation of whistleblower protection systems for local governments in Serbia. Three regional workshops convened a total of 64 participants from 31 local governments and 6 local public companies.
USAID Supports Enhanced Standardized Data Collection and Exchange for Serbian Public Prosecutors

The USAID-funded Government Accountability Initiative is assisting the Serbian Public Prosecutors’ Offices to enhance their collection and exchange of data to improve the quality and efficiency of prosecution of corruption. Workshops were held in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the Republic Prosecutor’s Office in each of the four appellate regions in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac from September to November 2018.
