Government Accountability Initiative’s Support to the New Specialized Anticorruption Courts and Public Prosecutors’ Offices Presented at the Judge’s Annual Conference

Serbia’s path to EU Accession was paved in part by the Law on Fight Against Corruption, Organized Crime and Terrorism Financing, which entered into force on March 1, 2018. This Law singled out a new catalogue of 27 criminal offences with elements of corruption and introduced a specialized system of four anti-corruption public prosecutors’ offices and courts to prosecute and adjudicate corruption cases.

US Federal Judge Provides Serbian Judges Insight into US Best Practices in the Adjudication of Financial Crimes and Corruption

With the assistance of the US Federal Judicial Center, GAI has engaged the Honorable Leo T. Sorkin, US Federal judge from the District Court in Boston, Massachusetts, to introduce US best practices in the adjudication of financial crimes and corruption. To increase opportunities for exchange and knowledge sharing, GAI has organized two roundtables with Judge Sorokin in October 2018.
