Local Governments in Serbia Invited to Express Interest for Collaboration in Strengthening Governance and Accountability

June 11, 2018

The Government Accountability Initiative (GAI) opened the Call for Expressions of Interest for Local Self-Governments in Serbia and shared it with 144 municipalities on June 11, 2018. The Call invites all interested local self-governments to provide a concise expression of interest for collaboration with GAI to strengthen their governance structures. Support for dissemination of the call has been provided by NALED, Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities and CRTA. The Call will be open until June 29, 2018.

Initial LSG applications indicate interest in receiving GAI technical assistance in all offered areas of technical assistance including: Local Anticorruption Plan implementation, monitoring and reporting; strategic communication through use of social media; development of models for public participation in budget planning, public procurements, gender-sensitive budgeting, monitoring service delivery quality; and whistleblower protection. GAI support will also focus on exchange of successful interventions among LSGs.

GAI plans to select five to seven LSGs in 2018 and scale up the number of participating LSGs over the next three years.
